Bij het begin van het verhaal over de passie en de dood van Narcissus, zoals het in Metamorfosen door Ovidius is opgeschreven, vraagt de schone nimf Liriope aan de blinde ziener Tiresias of haar kind Narcissus lang leven zal en een rijpe ouderdom zal bereiken...

De onuitputtelijke metaforsiche kracht van Ovidius’ metamorfosen reflecteert tot op vandaag. De napratende, nog enkel in staat om het grofweg of zorgvuldig voorgekauwde fragmentair en achteloos te herhalen, verliest uiteindelijk vaste vorm en zweeft doelloos rond. Ook de selfie-verslaafde exhibitionist in het virtuele spinrag is al te vaak een tragisch lot beschoren. Ultieme gedaanteverwisselingen.

In this performance Ovid’s compelling verses underpin the graphical discourse. Josse de Pauw narrates the myth of Echo and Narcissus. Meanwhile the ink drawings, sprouting rhythmically from the paintbrush of artist/performer Koenraad Tinel - geprojecteerd op een groot scherm - ritmisch groeien in dialoog met de klanken ontstaan uit de fantasie van Frederik Neyrinck.

Levende interacties leiden steeds tot nieuwe transfiguraties ...
