De musicerende engelen
Half a millennium ago the music of the Franco-Flemish polyphonists enchanted the European continent, in the same period when Jan Van Eyck created an international buzz. The waves of their subtle and fine-meshed vocal fabric keep shimmering through time and space and reach us again today through the fanciful ears of their distant artistic heirs.
In her idiosyncrratic approach of the chansons of Guillaume Dufay, Isabel Mundry didn’t choose for a historically inspired performance practice. Her Dufay Bearbeitungen illuminate the patina of history. They are eco’s of a distant past, newly coloured and reduced to their deboned essence.
