Are we not drawn onward to new erA

Music theatre
“Life must be lived forwards, but it can only be understood backwards.” – Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855)

Are our actions irreversible or can we undo them?

You will be able to see the show forwards and backwards. Some of us believe humanity is improving, others think the opposite. Some say everything is screwed up, others call them doomsters.
Whoever is right, our incessant quest for progress has radically changed the world we live in.

The performance presents a visual metaphor for this crucial moment in our future history and traces the process of humans moving towards their downfall or salvation. The deconstruction of a tangible reality alters in its reconstruction.
The 'Disintegration Loops' by the New York based composer William Basinski constitute a sounding counterpart. In this piece — in a new adaptation by Joris Blanckaert — a crumb of information gets lost with every deteriorating iteration.

“This is one of the most beautiful performances ever made by Ontroerend Goed, balancing between fine arts and theater, poetry and politics.”
– Els Van Steenberghe in Knack ★★★★
