Specially reimagined for the site, Rebecca Saunders' Chroma XX unfolds through the halls, corridors and hidden corners of Muziekcentrum De Bijloke—or perhaps it is the building itself that begins to shape the music. For this large-scale project, SPECTRA joins forces with GAME, the music collective of KASK & Conservatorium Ghent. Here, the concert hall itself becomes the instrument: an immersive landscape of shifting perspectives, where every movement reveals a different sonic experience. No two journeys through Chroma XX are quite the same. Rather than inviting the audience to follow a performance, the work transforms the building into a composed environment waiting to be explored. As a prelude to this unique experience, landmark works by Georg Friedrich Haas and Enno Poppe prepare the ear for the sonic expedition that follows.
