Little Mouse doesn’t want to appear on the menu of Fox, Owl and Snake, so she invents the terrifying Gruffalo, with orange eyes, a tongue as black as coal and purple stinges from head to tail. Fortunately Mouse knows he doesn’t really exist… Or does he ?

When she finally visits the other animals, accompanied by the real Gruffalo, the monstuous creature erroneously thinks that they are afraid for the tiny creature and fleas like grim death into the forest.

For The Gruffalo - een klassieker van Julia Donaldson en Axel Scheffler - schreef dirigent-componist Iván Fischer wrote music in which surprise and recognizability go hand in hand. In a setting with plenty of colourful illustrations seven singers narrate and enact this funny and thrilling musical story for children from the age of 4, in a Dutch translation in rhyme.

Who is finally afraid of whom ?
