Ligeti: (Selbst)porträt mit Reich und Riley

Concert
György Ligeti was undoubtedly one of the musical giants of the 20th century. Stanley Kubrick was fascinated by his music and its influence on other musicmakers was enormous, throughout different genres, moving through art and film music and even in the experimental DJ-scene.

The violinconcerto is a nice example of his later style which combines modern and experimental with traditional elements. As such, Ligeti works with microtonal structures combined with baroque and even Hungarian folkmusic. Furthermore, the composer portrays himself with two other contemporaries, icons of the American minimalistic music Steve Reich and Terry Riley.

For this concert, we collaborate once again with notabu.ensemble fur neue music from Düsseldorf.
