Based on Little Women of Louisa May Alcottthis opera tells the story of the four March sisters — Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy — growing up in 19th-century America. Themes of love, loss, independence and family bonds are expressed through Mark Adamo’s lyrical musical language. In 2026, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the work with a newly revised score by the composer, to be performed for the first time worldwide in Ghent — marking also the European premiere of this contemporary American opera.
