opera
When composing her first opera, Annelies Van Parys had two themes in mind: voyeurism and social isolation. Private View is set in the closed world of an apartment building; the residents hardly know their neighbours.
The characters in the scenario by Gaea Schoeters and the playful, ambiguous libretto by Jen Hadfield are reduced to archetypes, metaphors for the patterns of interhuman relationships, drawn only by their acting are not acting.
Alfred Hitchcock is secretly lurking around the corner.
