Componiste Annelies Van Parys had voor haar eerste opera twee thema's voor ogen: voyeurisme en sociale isolatie. Private View speelt zich af binnen de besloten wereld van een flatgebouw; de bewoners hebben zich volledig teruggeplooid op zichzelf, en kennen hun buren nauwelijks.

The characters in the scenario by Gaea Schoeters and the playful, ambiguous libretto by Jen Hadfield are reduced to archetypes, metaphors for the patterns of interhuman relationships, drawn only by their acting are not acting.

Alfred Hitchcock is secretly lurking around the corner.
